ChainMail is a brand-new app going through Google's standard verification process. You'll see one extra screen during first sign-in — here's what to do:
You'll see a "This app isn't verified" screen
Every new app gets this during Google's review period. It means we're new, not that anything is wrong.
Click "Advanced" then "Go to ChainMail"
This is a standard Google screen. Once we're approved, it goes away.
Grant the requested permissions
ChainMail asks for Gmail access permissions — the same scopes documented in our Privacy Policy. Review them and click "Allow".
Is ChainMail safe?
Yes. ChainMail is local-first — your emails are cached on your computer and never sent to our servers. The "unverified app" warning is a standard Google screen for any new app. See our Privacy Policy for details.
How long until I can sign in?
We add new users within a few hours. You'll get an email confirmation when you're set up. In the meantime, download the app so it's ready to go.
Can I use a Google Workspace account?
Yes, as long as your Workspace admin allows third-party app access. Enter your Workspace email in the form above.
I got an "access blocked" error
This means your email hasn't been added yet, or it's been less than 24 hours. If it's been longer, email us at admin@chainmail.online.
